Class List

Caregiver Class: Training for caregivers to help them understand diabetes basics and to enable them to give care to a child with Type 1 Diabetes. This is a great class for grandparents, aunts, uncles, babysitters, and anyone outside the family who will be responsible for the care of a child with diabetes.

Carbohydrate Counting Class: Recommended to all families. Children attending should be at least 8 years of age. Carbohydrate counting is a dietary guideline used to help control blood sugars. The class assists in meal planning and balancing carbohydrate intake with insulin and exercise.

Celiac Disease &Type 1 Diabetes Family Night: To provide a group setting for families to come together and share tips for success, taste gluten-free products and learn helpful information. Dietician leads class.

College Preparation Class: This class is designed for high school Juniors and Seniors. In an open forum, they will learn how to manage diabetes safely in the college environment. All topics are addressed from insurance to “risky behaviors” and the responsibilities of living away from home.

Continuous Glucose Monitoring:  Whether you are looking into getting a CGM or if you already have one, but feel that you are not using it to its fullest potential, this class is for you.  Physician review and Rx needed to start on a CGM

Diabetes Teen Driving: Covers DMV legal aspects of driving, ORANGE obligations and your responsibilities. Parents, drivers and potential drivers 15-19 encouraged to attend.

Insulin Pump Classes:
   1. Pump Basics Class: for those interested in learning about the pump, how it works,                            recommendations and insurance issues.
   2. Advanced Pump Class: for those who already have the pump and want hands ­on training.

Insulin Shot Class: This class is for parents and their children, 7­-11 years old, who want to learn about the different kinds of insulin and injection sites. Parents are requested to attend. Both, parents and children, are encouraged to give themselves their first shot at the end of the class.

"Myth Busters": A class on living female with diabetes for teens 13-18 and their adult female guardian . Get real answers - Do hormones change blood sugars?  Does diabetes mess up current or future relationships?  Can you/should you have children one day?  This class highly recommended for all parents and ♀ teens.
